Ladoix ...
             ... Heart of the Côte

The village of Ladoix is situated where the Côte de Nuits meets the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyard, divided into numerous plots, is situated on the Corton hillside which faces East-South/East, at an altitude ranging from 240 to 320 metres, and on which are to be found diverse geological layers :
  • Chalky marl favoured by the great white wines.
  • Chalky-clay soil mixed with shallow day producing highly dehcate red wines.

Sheltered from the west wind, enjoying much sunshine, the vineyards are subjected to a rather dry semi-continental clirnate which makes for an relatively early ripening of the grapes.

... a unique variety of Grapes, a Mosaic of Soils

Wherever the wine comes from, it requires a great affinity between the grape variety, the soil and the climate to make a well-balanced wine.
The specificity of Burgundy is to produce wines from one grape variety out of highly different soils :
  • Pinot Noir for red wines
  • Chardonnay for white wines
